Today we got into the Christmas spirit in science by reviewing the scientific method using candy canes! We experimented with which liquids would cause the biggest change to the properties of a candy cane. Then, we found out how candy canes are made in factories. We didn't know so much work went into making these delicious treats!

In our last science chapter we studied quick and slow changes to Earth's surface. One of the things we discussed was how earthquakes happen. We also talked about what people in areas where quakes are prevalent need to do in order to stay safe. To get us thinking, we explored how engineers in California plan bridges to withstand different strengths of earthquakes. Then, we build our own suspension bridges to see how much weight they could withstand. We learned a lot! Its been a month since I've posted a new update! Sorry! We have been busy learning, putting together boxes for Operation Christmas Child, and getting ready for our concerts. Here are a few pictures from OCC.
There are also a few pictures from our recent science lab. We are studying weathering and erosion. We used graham crackers, water, ice, and a few straws to help us get a better understanding of how these processes work! |
