In April, we worked on writing our own poem books with 25 different kinds of poems. On Friday we shared our favorite poems at a "Poetry Cafe."

We had so much fun being together and watching some baseball on a beautiful afternoon! We have been learning about the systems of the body. We did a few mini labs to test different aspects of 4 systems. Here's a video to recap our experience! This morning we ventured to the fair grounds for the ND Agricultural Classroom day. We learned about products grown and raised in ND and MN and how they become the food we eat and products we use. We learned a lot in a few short hours! We sure enjoyed our afternoon at Skate City! It was fun to see so many try something new and help each other too! Here are a few pictures from our trip. We have been studying electric and magnetic energy! Today we put our knowledge to use in an exploration lab. We tried different tasks with magnets to see if various objects would be attracted to the magnets. We also built series and parallel circuits!
Its almost Christmas break! What!? Here are a few pictures from this month. We had an author visit, took somc fun class pictures, and have done a few data collection projects in math. In the midst of learning about changes to Earth's surface we have been talking about Earthquakes. Today we spent some time discussing what considerations builders would take in before they started a project in areas effected by earthquakes. Then we talked about what things we'd have to consider to build something in the mid-west. Our task was to use 100 toothpicks and 50 marshmallows to build a bridge between two tissue boxes that were 6 inches apart. We then tested the "load" (aka pennies) that the bridge could support. Tomorrow we will learn more about building a bridge in areas that are prone to earthquakes. |
