The past few weeks have been BUSY!! We packed boxes for OCC (thank you for all of your donations!). In science we used gram crackers to explore slow changes to Earth's surface. iPoint came for spiritual emphasis week. They did a few team building activities with us, lead chapel, and came into our classroom to share with us. We also went to Open Doors Ministry to help sort inventory. So many great experiences were packed into these few days!

Mrs. Messelt asked us a few weeks ago if we would come up with actions for a new song at chapel. This morning we got to lead actions at chapel. The song is called "Nothing Ever" by Citizen Way. Here are a few pictures and a video. How fun to see the kiddos interact with their family and family friends! We interviewed our grandparents to see what life was like when they were younger. We also worked on some word puzzles with them and show them around 4th grade. We have had a busy month of learning so far! Here are a few pictures from Homecoming week, learning about storms and prefixes, and reading in our classroom! They are working so hard on our reading challenge- its fun to see! Combined, we have read 161 books as a class right now! Our newest science unit is on the water cycle and weather. As part of our study we took part in the River Keeper's water festival. We spent the day visiting various stations and learning about the water in our world. Some of our topics included: how water moves, water pollution, water in our bodies, properties of water, the history of the Red River Valley, and water tables. Check out our adventure! We were drawn for a Root Beer Float party from the Parent Association! What a sweet way to end the week. Also, we took a few class pictures today. We had some new friends visit us on Tuesday. However, they chose an unsafe place to sit and watch our class happenings. So, in science we did an investigation to build Harry a new perch that wasn't on top of the whiteboard. Our goal was to use teamwork and a bag of supplies to build Harry a perch that would help him sit as high above our desks as possible. The 4th graders came up with some creative ideas! It has been so fun getting to know this new group! They are hardworking and love to learn! Here are a few pictures from our first few days. They include moments from our science explorations, learning about the classroom economy, and having fun in our photo frame! Over the past 2 weeks we were able to attend 2 track and field day's. It is so fun to see the kiddos try new things and encourage each other! We enjoyed a day at the ballpark...even if it snowed for a few minutes! |
