In the midst of learning about changes to Earth's surface we have been talking about Earthquakes. Today we spent some time discussing what considerations builders would take in before they started a project in areas effected by earthquakes. Then we talked about what things we'd have to consider to build something in the mid-west. Our task was to use 100 toothpicks and 50 marshmallows to build a bridge between two tissue boxes that were 6 inches apart. We then tested the "load" (aka pennies) that the bridge could support. Tomorrow we will learn more about building a bridge in areas that are prone to earthquakes.
